This driving blues shuffle, in the Thad & Mel style, makes a terrific opener. There are a couple of twists: the chart starts in Bb, goes to Eb for the solos(based on blues changes, trasposed for any soloist). to Ab for the shout, then back to Bb for the out chorus. Tpt 1 to high C, tbn 1 to G. Slashes in piano and guitar; bass is slashes w/ changes. 5-4-4-4.
