Commissioned by Foothill High School Club Cougar Orchestra, Palo Cedro, CA - Mitchell Bahr, director. A funky half-time hip-hop feel based on the New Orleans second line clave with a Trombone Shorty attitude. It features the bone section throughout; there are two bone solos, but the solos could easily be any other instrument. The bone 2 solo starts with a stop-time section; bone 1 plays a chorus with bass and hand claps only. Exciting second-line interlude ends with collective improvisation for the whole band and a restatement of the theme. A really fun closer for your concert or festival performance! 5-4-4-4; Fender Rhodes sound preferred; 7-string guitar and 5-string bass a plus but not necessary. Lead trumpet to written Bb; lead bone to C. No woodwind doubles. Medium.'
