Commissioned by the Celebration of the Arts, Delaware Water Gap, PA. Grove City Groover is a creative shuffle excursion for medium-difficult bands, featuring thick orchestrations, with a hard-driving shout chorus. Open solo section for additional solos with background figures the last time only. To illustrate how the figures relate to one another, it is recommended that the brass and saxes be rehearsed separately for measures 105 through 137. Throughout this chart, the band should concentrate on holding back their eighth-note figures to prevent rushing. The band should also be careful not to play short notes too short; this will allow the band to play the loose, relaxed feeling of the chart. Solo space for trombone and tenor sax. Trpt 1 to written high Db with two high Fs at the end with optional high Cs. Scored for 5/4/4/G/P/B/D. Medium difficult.
