Copious accidentals, broken extended chords, and chromatic notes generate a misty sound. Specific fingerings in more difficult passages are helpful, and a light syncopation throughout provides energy. In 'The Golden Ring,' there are imaginatively descriptive tempo markings and a carousel sound. It is cheerful, with abundant accidentals and a faster middle section. 'Narragansett Bay' is in C major and contains abundant accidentals, a few blocked chords, and a contrasting middle section. Predominant features of this piece include hemiolas, left hand motion, and an exclusively right hand melody.
