A work similar in style to the Nocturnes. The melody, however, is more advanced, appearing in double-notes or chords. The undulating nature of the left hand accompaniment persists.

A sparkling, highly ornamented jewel among Chopin's collection of Valses (Waltzs).

The title betrays the melancholy nature of this, Chopin's favourite work.
