The russian composer and pianist Alexander Rosenblatt (born 1956 in Moscow) writes music in cross-over-style, leaving behind the boarders between the so called 'serious' and 'popular' music.
His 'Christmas Fantasy' for piano is grounded on popular Christmas melodies, combining them in artificial counterpuntal setting and with vintage jazzy elements (chords, rhythms, intonations etc.).
The following themes are used:
> Holy Night: from bar 9
> Jingle Bells: from bar 44
> In the forest was born herringbone(Russian): from bar 66
> Jingle Bells: from bar 88
> O du fröhliche (German): from bar 97,
> O Tannenbaum (German): from bar 134,
> Jingle Bells: from bar 155.
His 'Christmas Fantasy' for piano is grounded on popular Christmas melodies, combining them in artificial counterpuntal setting and with vintage jazzy elements (chords, rhythms, intonations etc.).
