Saties 'Ogives' und 'Gymnopédies' sind Meilensteine der musikalischen Moderne. Die metrisch freien 'Ogives' (Spitzbögen) spiegeln den Einfluss der französischen Neugotik bzw. Neogregorianik in Architektur und Musik in klaren Linien und Echowirkungen wider, während die drei akkordisch-wiegenden, ihre Wirkung gleichfalls aus äußerster Materialreduktion beziehenden 'Gymnopédies' augenzwinkernd auf die 'Gymnopädie' genannten Tänze spartanischer Jünglinge verweisen.

Jens Rosteck
lebt als Musikforscher, Kulturgeschichtler und Buchautor (u. a. zu Kurt Weill und Lotte Lenya, Oscar Wilde, Bob Dylan, Jane und Paul Bowles, Hans Werner Henze, Promotion über Darius Milhauds Claudel-Opern) in Südfrankreich und war langjähriger MGG-Autor für französische Musik.
Steffen Schleiermacher
studierte u. a. als Meisterschüler an der Berliner Akademie der Künste und bei Aloys Kontarsky an der Musikhochschule Köln. Er ist Leiter der Konzertreihe 'musica nova' am Gewandhaus Leipzig, Gründer des Ensemble Avantgarde und unternimmt als Komponist, Pianist und Dirigent Konzert- und Vortragsreisen durch Europa, die USA, Südamerika und Asien. Er wurde u. a. mit Stipendien (u. a. Villa Massimo Rom) und zahlreichen Schallplattenpreisen ausgezeichnet und ist Chevalier des Arts et Lettres. Unter seinen ca. 60 CD-Aufnahmen finden sich das gesamte Klavierwerk von Cage und die Klaviermusik Saties.
