STRING ELEGIES is a collection of three pieces, originally composed for unaccompanied choir during lockdown in 2021, which I then arranged for string orchestra in January 2022, and dedicated separately to conductor Leslie Olive, my publisher David Good, and my brother Gavin Carr, all of whom have been instrumental in performances of my choral music over the years. The three movements can be performed as a suite or as individual elegies.
String Elegy No.1: Music, When Soft Voices Die (Percy Bysshe Shelly)
String Elegy No.2: Be Still, My Soul (Katharina A. von Schlegel)
String Elegy No.3: Rain (Euan Tait)
Duration 15 minutes (each about 5 minutes)
A PACK includes a full score plus 4/4/3/4/2 string parts.
