'English Suite' was originally written for string quartet. The work reflects the composer's love of the English countryside, uses folk song-like material and sits firmly in the tradition established by Holst and Vaughan Williams. Paul Lewis is of the opinion that every English composer should write a work for string orchestra.
This suite is in four movements: March, Meditation, Jig and Jaunt.
It is also published for sale in the original version for string quartet (GM027)
