Playing With Fire is an alto saxophone feature for jazz ensemble, and is designed for the advanced jazz ensemble. It has a straight-8th feel throughout. The groove alternates between a quasi-mambo and quasi-bossa nova feel in the rhythm section. The chord progression is difficult for the soloist. There are no doubles. Trumpet range is to F#5, trombones to Bb4, and the piece calls for 5 trumpets and 5 trombones. Difficult level.
