The title for this chart comes from the idea that every good rehearsal is like a workout - that during a jazz rehearsal, the band room becomes something of a jazz gymnasium. This straight-ahead blues gives young players a good workout on some of the most fundamental elements of the swing style. An open solo section provides a chance for students to get their feet wet in the improvisation area as solo sheets are provided for all instruments. Rhythm section parts are notated with chords cued.
