Attentive to these phrases, which are so lilting, and this piano accompaniment that is highly evocative yet so sober and sparing, we are going to study many riches, as much in harmony or phrasing as in the form of each Lied, in which, through tiny details, the composer frees himself from conventions, elaborating a world of his own to invite us on a romantic journey of rare intensity.
