This is the first time that it has been tried to put the history of music education, seen from a perspective relating to cultural history as well as to the history of ideas, into a time frame of more than 3,000 years. This is associated with the claim to paint a picture which does not begin around 800 or not even before 1800, as has been the case up to now.
