This work is a suite in four movements aiming to highlight the huge expressive capacity and special sonority of the trombone quartet, using a clear and direct language. Each movement is treated in a different harmonic domain, but all have in common the tonic D. The thematic material of the first three movements reappears in the fourth, which is intended as a summary of the work. It was commissioned by the quartet Equale, who premiered it in 1995 in the auditorium 'José Agüera' of the Conservatorio Superior de Murcia. Subsequently, the versions of the Cuarteto español de trombones ('Spanish Trombone Quartet'), the ensemble Trombones del teide, Arts Quartet, and the 2 i 2 Quartet presented a fantastic first recording of the work. It was revised in 2001.
