Calixa Lavallee (1842-1891) was a 19th Century Canadian composer, noted for his varied prolific output. This Meditation was composed for the celebrated cornet virtuoso, Matthew Arbuckle. It is a lyrical pieces consisting of two sections written in contrast to each other.
