Rayon d'Or (Goldstrahl) beginnt mit einer heftigen (Allegro vigoroso) Introduktion, die das Fantastische in kräftiges Licht rückt. Das Thema selbst ist lyrisch (Andante non troppo lento). Die erste Variation (Allegro. Grazioso) diminuiert das Thema, die zweite rückt das Edle des Goldstrahls ins rechte Licht (Andantino. Affetuoso). Ein furioses Presto schließt das Stück - und ermöglicht es dem Saxophonisten, auch das Virtuose ins gebührende Licht zu setzen. (Christoph Dohr)
