In Mondriaan, composer Johan de Meij, producer Rob Hauser and saxophone virtuoso Henk van Twillert are taking their audiences on an adventure of sound, light and movement. The music leads us through various Mondriaan’s style periods: from expressionism and symbolism to new objectivity and abstraction. The quadriptych consists of the following paintings: I) Mill in Sunlight (1908) - II) Evolution (1911) - III) Composition III - Fox-Trot B (1929) - IV) Victory Boogie Woogie (1942 - 44). In the last two movements, hints can be heard to various dance forms, as the titles indicate. Mondriaan was an avid dancer and a great fan of jazz. There is hardly any literature for this specific instrumentation. The saxophone world will be eagerly looking forward to this! - Johan de Meij
