This collection includes 40 etudes that have been adapted for saxophone from oboist A.M.R. Barret's marvelous melodic studies. Each of the studies includes a saxophone accompaniment part adapted from Barret's original that can be performed by a teacher or fellow player to help develop ensemble skills. Students will also find 'Eight Progressive Exercises' by Jakob Dont in this collection as an addendum to the Barret's melodic studies in addition to scale studies by the editor David Hite. These Barret studies can be used following most elementary and intermediate method books, and can be augmented and complemented with the 'Melodious and Progressive Studies I', also available from the publisher.
