Descrizione:
Habanera is a dance and a musical form that originated in Havana, Cuba. Habanera is one of the roots of tango. It is a slow solo dance adapted from a French inspired Haitian dance in the first half of the 1800s. When habanera was exported back to Europe, it became very popular.
Many composers have used Habanera. One of the most famous is from the opera Carmen (1876) by Georges Bizet. Not long after the premiere it was characterized as an immoral and superficial failure, but is now one of the world's most popular opera pieces.
The story is about the gypsy street girl Carmen and her quest for love.
