Thus ever greater contrasts emerge between clearly structured and freely breathing passages. Halting rhythms and melodic fragments lead into a virtuosic, absurd maelstrom of sound that opens up the space for the essence of the work: microtonal motives seek harmonic security, fail to find it and dissolve into absolute silence.
