One of 14 pieces known collectively as the 'Enigma Variations' (1898-99), Nimrod was inspired by Elgar's close friend, the music editor Augustus J. Jaeger.

scored for trumpet 1 in Eb, trumpet 2 in Bb, trumpet 3 in Bb, flugelhorn in bb, horn in F, trombone 1, trombone 2, trombone 3, bass trombone, tuba
parts for piccolo trumpet in Bb, horn in Eb, tenor trombones in treble clef and Eb bass are included in this set.
