El Matador' is composed in the style of a Spanish paso doble. In this dance, the man plays the role of a matador, and the woman is, literally, a red rag to a bull! This work is written for a four-part variable instrumentation. The crucial aspect for the performance is that the parts are equally shared among the available instruments.
