String Quartet No. 9 by James Dillon is a 20-minute work composed in 2017 & 2018. Its three parts are organised continuously, and the ever-changing micro-gestures of part 1 are combined with the more expansive and wider ranging gestural shapes of part 2 in the 3rd and longest movement. Commissioned by the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival it was first performed on 25 November 2018 at Huddersfield by the Arditti String Quartet. This edition is part of the Peters Contemporary Chamber Series.
