The question 'Why have the fallen gone?' is answered; they go to preserve 'peace for all of us.' Halfway through the work, 'America the Beautiful' is introduced. It can be performed by a double-chorus or with audience participation as the work concludes with both the title melody and America the Beautiful' sung simultaneously.
