Brendan Ashe's 'Hosanna!' is an exciting and energetic piece for SATB. Each voice is divided into three staves. The top line is for clapping, the middle line is for stamping, and the bottom is for everything voiced. Brendan Ashe is a compelling composer, transcriber and arranger, as well as a commanding cunductor and pianist. His choral output for both upper and mixed voices is broad, reflecting his determindedly eclectic tastes - from Machaut to Bernstein, Bulgarian Folk to Serialism. His numerous works for schools and the theatre never fail to excite and inspire.
