Northumbrian Folk Song
This selection from the Judith Herrington Choral Series is a Northumbrian folk song. Communities such as Northumbria, bordering an ocean, produce tales and songs about the sea, and this gentle folk song also expresses the familiar longing of separated lovers. The steady rocking of the waves is suggested in the 6/8 rhythm of the melody and reinforced in the accompaniment.
