This series is the first published collection of art songs set to music exclusively by American women of the 20th century. All of the songs have been selected on the basis of poetic choice, strength in text-setting, and accessibility in performance. Florence Price (1888-1953) was the first black woman composer to be widely recognized in this country. She wrote many art songs and spirituall arrangements, including those in this volume, which have never been previously published. Collection includes: 'Feet o' Jesus' (text by Langston Hughes), and 'Trouble Done Come My Way.'
