Originating in Argentina, the tango has been danced all over the world for about a hundred years. It is considered a symbol of erotic passion and fervent southern temperament. Another characteristic of the tango, however, ensures that the passion always remains under control and does not exceed the limits of what is allowed. This hints at the strict elegance that is expressed, for example, in the dancers' clothing and their proudly erect posture. This facet of elegance is also the supporting element in Peter Schad's composition TANGO ELEGANTO: broad melodic arches seem to let the dancers float across the floor effortlessly. Some rhythmic passages breathe life into the picture but leave no doubt that the melody’s lyrical essence is the dominating factor. A tango not only for dancing, but also for quietly humming along!
