This work is unique in that the first movement is for solo trombone and band; the second is for trombone duet and band; and the final movement is for three trombones and band.

Commissioned in 1967 by the State College of Arkansas for the dedication of the Fine Arts Center. It was premiered in February of 1968 by the State College of Arkansas band, Homer Brown conducter.
