Sparkle received its world premiere at the WASBWE Conference in San Luis Obispo, California (1999). Imaginatively scored for wind ensemble, it begins quietly with delicate and rapid woodwind passages that are subtly supported by a simple ostinato bass line. The piece then builds in intensity through syncopated rhythms and resplendent harmonies - and the ending truly sparkles!
