As other famous opera composers of the long 19th century, such as Donizetti, Rossini or Verdi, Giacomo Puccini's instrumental or vocal works are little known or even completely forgotten. During Puccini's last year at the Milan Conservatory in 1882/1883 he created 'Scherzo and Trio'. This early composition, which is now transcribed for Symphonic Band by Italian arranger Matteo Frimi, offers the opportunity to discover the great opera composer Puccini from a different perspective.
