'Children of Sanchez' was composed by Chuck Mangione to the movie also entitled 'Children of Sanchez) in 1978. Mangione was awarded several Grammys for this music.
Make sure that the unison lines are played with energy and freshness in the beginning of the piece.
After the lyric opening of the theme, the character should be tightened up a bit in the rhythmic details two bars before 26.
(An important rhythmic 'meeting-point' is 16th note no. 8 in each bar). Good balance between quarter-notes and Tom-toms/Small Bass Drum is important at bar 49. This to make the polyrhythmic between these two parts as clear as possible (a suggestion is to let one performer play both Percussion 1-parts here).
Be aware of the dynamics in the accompaniment (not too loud) when the soloist plays from bar 60 and onwards. The rhythmics must be tight.
Feel free to let some players stand up in the tutti parts to make visual effects.
