As Recorded By Anita O'Day
Jazz Big Band Arrangement With Vocal
This Bill Holman vocal arrangement was written and recorded in August 1960. The recording session, featuring singer Anita O'Day with Holman's band, was organized by Verve Records as a tribute to Billie Holiday. Initially titled 'I Remember Billie Holiday,' the release was delayed until 1964 at which time it was re-titled 'Incomparable!'
The chart begins with vocals solely accompanied by bass. Halfway through the first chorus drums enter and then at the end of the chorus the whole band enters. This arrangement features a great ensemble chorus and nice backgrounds behind vocals. Due to the length of the original arrangement (just over 2 minutes in duration) we have added a solo section for tenor saxophone. This is an exciting vocal arrangement that would make a great concert piece. Ranges: Trumpet 1: to E6; Trombone 1: to Bb4; Vocal Key: Bb modulating to C
