King Sigurd I ruled Norway around 1100. It is the time of the crusades. Sigurd also went to Jerusalem with an army of knights. The aim was to recapture the holy places from the hands of the Muslims. Edvard Grieg composed the music for the play of the same name, two years before his 'Peer Gynt'.

Two brothers, who initially rule together, fight for sole rule. A young noble lady named Borghild finally succeeds in reconciling the two brothers. They vow to work for the peace and well-being of their fellow human beings in their home country Norway in the future. The realization that only peace and reconciliation serve human coexistence is the quintessence of the stage work in the room.

Allow yourself and your audience to be taken into the impressive work that stands for the ideals of peace and reconciliation.

The arrangement is designed through the use of numerous cue notes so that the work can also be played without a singer, oboe, bassoons and harp.
